Most recently, I developed and researched remotely operated robots for the fish processing and forestry industries. I am now looking for a full-time technician-level job in robotics/electronics that lets me learn more and, in the future, take on more demanding design-level work.

I developed a robot for forest management based on the cable-driven parallel robot (CDPR) format, and built a demo device with an aluminium frame. I talked with people in the industry through cold calls and did my own research on the topic. I decided to end the project after running profitability calculations based on the demo robot I had built. My interest in working at a company in the field grew out of the resource requirements and the lack of a work community.

I started researching automation in the fishing industry on my own through countless cold calls and visits. Eventually I was invited to join HAMK's robotics research group to design and develop the use of 3D-printable, remotely operated robotic arms in industrial processing of small fish. Entrepreneur - Startcorps Oy 02/2024 - 09/2024

Organising startup events as a volunteer (Rwanda and China for 2 months, Japan for 2 weeks and Estonia for 1 week), with the goal of getting to know local young people and building a business around student exchanges to Finland. The business turned out to be unprofitable, so we decided to shut it down. I funded part of the Japan project with support from Innovestor Oy, and in return I worked to find them useful contacts in the Japanese startup world.

Entrepreneur - Oiwaltava Productions 05/2021 - 07/2021

My second company, a sole proprietorship producing documentary videos and video ads. 3 customers and about 2,500 euros in revenue. I won 1,000 euros' worth of camera equipment in a pitching competition for young people in Central Finland, and raised about 2,000 euros in funding from several foundations for my self-produced documentary series about startup entrepreneurship.

What I learned: hiring people, how kind-hearted people are towards young entrepreneurs, and cold calling.

A closer look at my practical skills through projects

Entrepreneurship

I founded two profitable companies of my own as sole proprietorships in Jyväskylä at the ages of 16 and 17. Between the two, I landed about 20 customers in total, about 5,500 euros in revenue, about 3,000 euros in seed funding through various business competitions and applications, and employed one secondary school student part-time. I did most of the customer acquisition and marketing in Facebook groups and by emailing companies.

Cold calling and reaching out to people

I enjoy cold calling complete strangers to gather information for my own projects. For example, in 2025 a cold call got me invited to Lake Saimaa by a part-owner of a fish processing plant, and I spent a 24-hour workday with him trawling for vendace on Saimaa. My aim was to understand the bottlenecks of the Finnish fishing industry and how robotics could help in this field. This later led to an invitation to join the robotics research group at Häme University of Applied Sciences to develop automated vendace processing.

Bringing people together

In my first autumn at Aalto University in 2023, I ended up gathering about 300 students interested in table tennis into a Telegram group, so that I could more easily find people to play with on campus in the evenings. I did this through dozens of different chat groups and by putting up printed posters around campus over several weeks. Later, in 2024, I pulled the same stunt in China and Rwanda, and used these groups to organise, among other things, a one-day startup tour in Shanghai for 50 international exchange students as a marketing stunt for a local startup event I was helping to organise.

Manufacturing and design

2026 In the summer, interested in forestry, I decided to build a prototype of a cable-driven robot. I did the electronic and mechanical design with the help of Claude AI, sourced the electrical components through DigiKey, and ordered a modular aluminium profile frame using aluxprofile.com's made-to-measure service.

2025 I have built an SO-101 3D-printable robotic arm, modelled an add-on for it in FreeCAD, 3D printed it using Prusa MK4S printers and PrusaSlicer, assembled it, and used VR technology to teleoperate the robotic arm for HAMK's project.

2024 On school electronics courses, I have designed simple single-layer PCBs using KiCad, milled PCBs with a Roland SRM-20 PCB milling machine, and hand-soldered through-hole components.

2023 I practised making wooden figures with a 4-axis MDX-40 CNC machine. For this, I studied toolpaths and how to program them using FreeCAD and Fusion 360.

Floorball career, 2008-2020 + 2023-2026

A floorball career of about 16 years, during which I got to experience the whole spectrum of the sport, from family clubs to a junior national team training camp and all the way to the men's second-highest national league.

Business Developer, Laru Surf Club 01/2026 - present

As a hobby, I help grow the business of a Lauttasaari-based surf club focused on kitesurfing and wingfoiling, concentrating on managing equipment rentals and training our customers in safe water sports practices. I have learned about customer acquisition and customer management in a service business.
